Any chance of you expanding this to the PhotoShop Elements line up?  I use Elements No#6, due to cost...  I can buy better equipment and learn to take better photo's by saving some cash in post-processing.

Or I could possibly be in the market for a nice, softly used CS3.......

Thanks Kiwi.  Any chance you can add a lesson on Layers?  I just can't understand how to do it.  I have Elements 2 and have followed the directions in the manual, the help system, and a book I bought on Ele. 2 by Aaland.  The step by step instructions they give seem straight forward enough but I just can't seem to understand it. Just a simple "example" in steps would help.  Thanks for the time you put in.

What op system do you have windows or mac?

Elements 2 as far as I can tell doesn't have layer masks but then like anything else there is a way around that so I would need you to explain to me just where you are haveing problems is it even being able to get another added ? a copy of a layer or a completely different image added as a layer or even applying a transparent layer ?let me know and I will do my best for you

    Re: Howtos in photoshop

I know how to create a new layer, and how to make adjustments to the different layers I create,  So at this point I have the background layer and maybe two or three adjustment layers in the layer palette.  Now my question is....what do you do to combine them all?  Or is that happening automatic?  Do I then just bring the background layer up and save it and the other layers are applied?

Most adobe products that are similar have the same shortcuts.

So try this to merge all the together select the top layer and then use these short cut keys  Ctrl   E  that should merge the layers

    Or

On the menu bar along the top click on layers and then look for merge layers  merge visible  or flatten layers click on one of them to merge the layers.

    Re: Howtos in photoshop

Sorry forgot to mention I run XP and it is Elements 2.  The control+e won't work for me and the "Merge layers" is always grayed out in the menu.  I do have the layers linked except for the bottom layer "background" which is always locked.  Maybe I am leaving out a step and that is why the "Merge Layers" option is always grayed out.  I can "flatten" and "Merge Visible".

I can't get any of the "control +" shortcuts to work in Elements although "control +" shortcuts do work in other programs I run.  So I am wondering if the control key has to be activated some way in Elements?  Being an old "DOS" dog I use keyboard shortcuts alot.  Darned If I can get them to work in Elements though.  Thanks Kiwi for the time you are taking.

I always use flatten it is the one where you will get the results that you expect so I would advise that if you have the flatten image availible use that but I would also say you really should update they are up to elements 7 now http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/?promoid=BPDEM
