It may be a sage thrasher, based on its shape and location.

Sage Thrashers have really short bills. This guy has a long and decurved bill.

This is way out there, epecially since this bird appears to be in the city, but possibly a Rock Wren????

If you could give us more details as far as habitat that would be helpful.

Rock Wren would be my guess.

    Some more info

This bird is several miles northwest of town. Lewiston sits in sort of a valley and we were driving up an old grade when it was perched in the side of this old highway. The area up the hill is very grassy, there are sunflowers growning, a FEW trees. There is a large rise in elevation from Lewiston up this hill. It was considerably nice weather. I am not familiar with sage thrashers, but the photos I looked at the bill seems a little short. Thanks everyone.

    Re: Some more info

Rock Wrens (as their name suggests) like sparsely vegetated rocky hills. Does this sound anything like the area you were in?

Even if it doesn't, there's still a good change that this is your bird, because remeber, the birds don't read the books and don't know that they're "supposed" to be in that kind of habitat.

Yeah, thanks this must be a rock wren. I remember it was somewhat rocky because there was a domestic goat running loose around on some rocks we saw a bit later thanks guys!

Yeah now that I look again, it doesn't look big enough to be a thrasher.
