Using the following site as reference:  http://www.birds.cornell.edu/crows/FishCrow.htm

The thigh of the Fish Crow appears stubbier than the American Crow.  This should probably be better reflected in the WhatBird illustrations.

     Thanks!

Is it safe to assume I've seen one of these? I just assume I've seen both crows since I've been around lots of water and seen plenty crows there so I figure fish crows were there.

Horseface, where do you live?   Best way to ID a Fish Crow is by voice.  American Crows "cawww", Fish Crows "uh-uh".   The "uh-uh" sound is very similar to an American Crow begging (which you'll have the best chance of hearing when the young ones fledge).

    Re: Fish Crow

I live in Maryland, Baltimore county. I've been to the eastern shore plenty. See crows there all the time, I guarantee you I've seen one, I've just never made a positive ID. I will listen to the calls and try to get em down. But I'm sure most of the crows I see around my place are American.

    Thanks for the help!
