    Bird call

Anyone ever tried on of those brass and wood bird calls?

By a route obscure and lonely,
    haunted by ill angels only.

I have one, but I haven't used it much, and have no way of telling if it actually attracts birds.

    Re: Bird call

Some people use iPods or MP3 players in playback mode. Personally, I think that's cheating even when I go on Audubon outings I'd prefer they not use them. The bird it's meant to attract always seem to be confused when they fly into the area where the sound is playing and their species are no where to be found. In all honesty I do whistle to sparrows, finches, juncos, jays, starlings, waxwings, robins, mockingbirds, and call to the crows around my yard, but they are used to my presence and know me.
