Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal

About Jane
My interest in birds started with saving a naked finch from a cramped pet shop/hardware store in New Mexico.
That grew into a love of caged birds and parrots. My birds always seemed to be saved, naked or otherwise unhappy birds that I believe I gave much better lives too.
I went from there to a job as a game keeper on a duck, geese and swan farm called Northwest Wild fowl. I learned much from the owner Paul Dye who sadly passed away last year. I learnd everything I know about waterfowl, bird behaivour, bird health and rehab from Paul. Waterfowl are near and dear to my heart.
After that contract ended I began volunteering at a small zoo that concentrated in endangered species. I eventually became head keeper for the birds. Wow, did I ever learn a lot there.
I have done some work with wildlife rescue and rehabs many ducks and geese for return to the wild.
I volunteered for 6 years in Pheasantry at the Woodland Park zoo. I worked for a man whos great love is Hornbills. He had an amazing breeding program there that I was lucky enough to have the opportunity learn from.
Now I am living right on the Pilchuck river and am blessed with a daily show from four different Woodpeckers, Jays, Herons, Kingfishers, sandpipers, American Dippers, Golden Crowned Kinglets, Black headed Grossbeaks, Meadowlarks, Cedar Waxwings, Black Capped and Chestnut backed Chickadees, Brown Creepers, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Mergansers, Goldfinches and the list goes on and on.
I have also added 5 backyard chickens to our lives and they are delightful.
So, that being said, I have been searching for work that I can do at home because I simply do not want to leave. We found this perfect property nearly three years ago and have spent that time building our dream home ourselves from the ground up.
I also happen to be a Gemini so I have many completely different irons always in the fire all the time. For work I currently run three websites, help folks with their websites and sew custom horse show clothing.
I am looking forward to being involved with whatbird and this forum so I can continue my education and feed my love of birds.
