-The most common hummingbird in the Colorado Rockies
-The irridescent throat patch (gorget) appears black in shadow, but is brilliant pinkish-red when struck by the sun.

Amazing photo! I saw tons of these in Estes Park when I was visiting my grandparents. They are extremely territorial, and loud, and tame! :-)
