This is a sucky photo of a Burrowing Owl I took last night. I only had my little point & shoot with me. This bird was at my place of work in West Los Angeles. I work at a movie studio. Not exactly the type of place you'd expect to find a Burrowing Owl! A cool find for sure. I've contacted a rescue agency who will ...

  • Re: Zenaida or Mourning?

I've been studying Jamaican birds for an upcoming trip. Zenaida Dove is one of the expected birds in Jamaica so I'm a wee bit familiar with them. RJP is right in that the field mark to look for is at the back half of the bird. Zenaida Doves have a small white patch on their wings. Here is a photo I found online.

  • Re: Question regarding Cedar Waxwings

Curlybird - I wish you could come to work with me. I've been seeing and/or hearing Cedar Waxwings for the last week or so. Yesterday I had two flocks fly over my head while I wa at work. They seem to favor sweet gum trees. At least that's what I think the tree is. Kind of looks like a maple tree, but has those round prickly ...

  • Re: Eurasian Wigeon?

Well I'm an idiot. I saw this bird on Nov 8 at Newport Back Bay but I was so focused on trying to find the Bar-tailed Godwit that my brain just glossed right over it. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting a photo of it. Not a lifer but one I haven't gotten a picture of before. GRRR!!
