Very pretty photo...almost romantic in a way.

The trees here are wimpy compared to those in other places, but I think this little guy was hurt. He could only fly short distances. That is how I got such a good shot, I got another good shot here too. I am wondering if some recent construction work displaced him. I don't know for sure. I tried to capture him, so I could call someone or try and ...

It seems much yellower than the one in my book but it seems like the most likely posibility.

Thanks again Snowyowl.   You'd think I'd be able to identify a California Gull immediately since I've lived in Utah since the age of 9...but gulls confuse me a bit and I haven't put in the work to sort it out yet...someday.

I am pretty sure this is a Great Blue Heron because of it's size, flight and the basic way it looks. I could be wrong, I HOPE NOT! I saw 3-4 of these today flying at Antelope Island (Great Salt Lake, Utah), it was AMAZING! Not sure if the other bird, a gull I'm sure, can be identified with out view of it's head.

The call is a lot slower than an american goldfinch. It's goes about as fast as reading it. And my husband is saying he thinks he saw the bird, but he's not a bird watcher so the best he could tell me was it was ''brownish and small''...so, I don't know if that helps.

I should have put in my post that this is in Northern Utah.  And it's not a very squawky sound, it's more of a clean sounding tweet.   But thank you for replying!
