Better looking? I find crows extremely handsome. I've always wanted a crow for a pet, but I know, laws, licenses, cats... Some used to believe magpies were the cohorts or familiars of witches.

I had a male bluebird doing that for several seasons. He'd attack his reflection until the babies fledged, then ignore the reflection until more eggs came. I caught a video of him once.

I think it's a Bullock's oriole. And I would LOVE it if orioles came to my h'bird feeder. Orioles like nectar, too.

greenwyvern:I'm certainly no expert either so please wait for one to appear. But it looks like a Scarlet Tanager to me also. I have one book that even shows one with a tiny tuff/crest on it's head like this one...though the way he is puffed up I suspect that is just the wind.

Jeff is correct. Not much seasonal variation here. Great for birding though. Most of out birds stay here year round, especially vultures of both types.

it may be a hybrid. I read several years ago that the eastern and westerns were cross breeding. I can't remember where I read it, but I do remember reading it.
