Thanks, actually, you guys helped! i was thinking that it looked almost exactly like a gray jay but i couldnt get over the yellow. I was scared that the yellow warblers were interbreeding with the gray jay! when GreyPaper suggested the camp food i looked at its breast and noticed that is was wet, so probably did an involentary nose dive ...

a friend of mine took some pictures of this bird and asked me about him and i dont have a clue what he is. i need to give an answer by wednesday evening on what bird it is! i thought maybe a yellow varient gray jay, but that makes no sense! what do you think? taken in or near calgary alberta.

sorry. maybe i wont be able to id these. the black guy was flying away from me so i didnt see anything on the front, but the bottom didnt look any lighter then the top. the second one was dark on top and light on bottom. the stream was sorta quick and there were lots of rocks and fish evidently because i saw a kingfisher.

i checked and unfortunatly it wasnt.... what information would be helpfull? i couldnt get within 50 feet of the water bird and i only got a glance at the 1st birds back and rump.

#1 Looked Almost like a bobolink and was even in the right habitat! but it was odd. it was a black bird flying off (at close range) and i saw its back end. it had a white rump (like a harrier) and it flew off down a hill. i couldnt find it after that. it was the size of a yellow headed black bird perhaps. made me think of a red winged ...
