My fav is always the little chickades that hang around all year. I can't get enough owls - they're so hard to find it's worth the hunt.

About the barn owls - they are a very frisky couple!!!!!!! You would think they would have a tree full of eggs by now!
I just got our first snowy owl report- I'm on the hunt!!! I hope it hangs around this weekend. You need to keep your fingers crossed for me!

You do know Curlybird that once the dam breaks and you see your first waxwing - you'll start seeing them all over the place. That's what happened with my first CW and my green herons. I know we sent a bunch your way - they just haven't found YOU yet!

My 2 cents worth is to get a couple of potted trees - my neighborhood birds like to hide in the arborvitea bushes near our deck. When I go out to fill up the feeder that's where they all fly. Barn owls can nest almost any time of the year. It's pretty common for them to nest in the fall and spring. Our great horned owls nest in late january!
