I figured as much and even witnessed a starling that seemed interested in the plight of the young bird. Mother Nature at it's finest. Thanks a bunch.

Hi all, Hope you are enjoying your summer! I have been just a casual observer in the last two months due to the insects that inhabit n.e. Ohio this time of year. While at work I did notice this bizarre behavior in a couple of birds. Small Warbler feeding a rather large juvenile bird of another species???? Sorry for the crap pictures as I had left ...

Meg, Every evening at my work here in n.e. Ohio I see Green Herons flying by moving out of their feeding areas. Their wing beat is continuous like a Crow although I never hear the sounds you mention.

That's something you don't see everyday.

lol...Don't get your hopes up on the squirrel thing. We have Red-shoulders and the squirrels aren't even phased by their presence. If I am lucky they might take a sparrow or two...

Looks a bit wind blown...lol...

They were so still I thought they were dead so the babies instincts were amazing. I put the box back together as quickly as possible when I realized they were alive. I did see a parent at the entrance today tending to them so hopefully this disturbance will pass. Thanks all.

BirdBrainy:Thanks Snowy!
I know what you mean Billkaye, it was quite the journey, especially when dealing with a increasingly cranky non-birder tour group that had to put up with all my stopping to photograph birds...
Ha Ha....non birders...ewww. What were ''they'' looking at?

Perhaps now I know why I haven't seen my resident chipmunks..... Red-shoulders or roaming cats....take your pick.

Cripes... Ecuador...the Galapagos..... I am just happy to make it to the railroad tracks by the river here in Ohio 5 minutes from my house. Anything farther than a half hour becomes a journey ...lol...lol....
