Yes, 1st is a female and the 2nd pic has 3 female and 1 first winter male. Cape May has had reports of 100+!!!

I have seen some dabblers go underwater(Mallards and Black ducks) so who knows maybe shovelers too. I must confess I did not read your OP stating that.. with that beak there definately says shoveler to me.
