• Re: Red tailed hawk AND?

Nice, thanks for the ID. Had my camera been a 40x zoom, would this have been a unique occurrence to photograph?

  • Red tailed hawk AND?

I'm really hating my camera right now. Even with a 20x zoom, it just doesn't have what it takes to get raptors sitting in high tree tops. GAWD! Anyway.. It looks like a red tailed on the left, but what is that on the right? Male/female of same? I just wondered because the one on the right looks gray. So my other thought was I got 2 ...

  • Re: Whippoorwill... Kinda...

Thanks, I know right? I did some reading and it said they have a pattern they follow so if I went back to the same place at the same time, I'd likely see them again. So I went back and like clockwork, I heard them again, but didn't wait for them to come closer because I knew the outcome. It would only have led to further disappointment. ha I just ...

  • Whippoorwill... Kinda...

My days at Ninja Academy payed off when I was able to get close to this guy... Only to remember the fatal flaw in my plan... Not enough flash... :( I suppose next time I'll have to chase him with a monster truck that has head lights? =)

  • Re: DSLR vsAdvanced Point and Shoot

I'm glad I got a P&S for my first camera. I can shoot near and far etc.. Right now, I'm having FUN learning. I would not be having so much fun if I was having to switch lenses and miss shots etc.. I don't go out with something in mind. I might be on macro with a frog or I might be zoomed to a Osprey in a skyscraper tree across a river and ...

  • Re: osprey

I kinda liked mine till I saw yours. ha My problem was I was at full zoom (20x) and yeah, I can just go ahead and know that it won't be great quality.

  • Re: Big bird in my yard, kind of freaking out my young daughters.

As far as the bird freaking out your kids. Try taking them to a pet store and let them pet some friendly birds. Maybe your kids will make some kind of positive association or something or at least help withh the freaking out thing...

  • No Pic - Just a Quick Story

Me and my dad had just left his new house built on a river here in FL. It was meaningful because the house next door belonged to his late parents and he helped them with it when they built it and I have fond memories of visiting there as a child etc... We were heading home.. So we went over the bridge for the river and were going about 65mph and I ...
