• Re: Female Orchard Oriole?

Thanks for the response and sorry that I didn't give more information. The photo was taken October 16, 2008 and yes, I live in S. Florida. Does that help to confirm female BO?

  • Female Orchard Oriole?

Cleaning up my photos and came across this one. The best ID I can come up with is a female orchard oriole. Any thoughts on this?http://picasaweb.google.com/bkacker/BirdsToIdentify#5398394028946818306Thanks.

  • Re: Noisy Flyover

Thank you for your response. I do think it's the blue-crowned parakeet. The beak on the Dusky-Headed is dark and my guys have a light colored one. Also the hint of red under the tail leans toward the blue-crowned. http://picasaweb.google.com/bkacker/BirdsToIdentify#5397476838097222258They usually flyover in late afternoon, so ...

  • Noisy Flyover

I live in S. Florida and saw these parrots (?) today, Oct. 27. I usually hear them long before I see them. I just happened to have my camera when they flew over so snapped a few shots. They look different than the Monk Parakeets I normally see/hear. The most distinguishing mark was the quite visible white eye ring. ...

  • Re: Help with bird id

Thank you for taking the time to give me a thorough response. I'm not familiar with either bird but we do get birds 'passing through' here who are not normally here in summer or winter. It's probably clear that I'm a novice birdwatcher but am trying to learn to be accurate in my identification. I appreciate you giving me information on ...

Definitely has a rufous cap. I can put up another photo with the close up of the head if that would help. If it were a White-crowned Sparrow, I assume it would be immature?

  • Help with bird id

http://picasaweb.google.com/bkacker/BirdsToIdentify?feat=directlink This link will take you to my photos on Picasa. I'm having a great deal of problems posting here (with or w/o photos). These photos were taken in S. Florida on 10/19 and 10/20. Would appreciate confirmation of the chipping sparrow. I think the others are ...
