&lt;P&gt;This bird and I spotted (startled) each other at the same time. He barely touched the branch and took off. I had been photographing sparrows and couldn't focus fast enough to get a good shot of the big guy. The photos are way out of focus so any ideas are greatly appreciated.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;Las Vegas, Nevada.
This bird is larger than the dozens of morning doves I feed in my backyard and
considerably meaner. It looks similar to the morning doves but&lt;img alt=""&gt; has a collard

&lt;P&gt;There were mallards, domestic ducks, geese, American coots, a couple of muscovy ducks and such around there. &lt;/P&gt;
