It is a Cardinal. There has been two or three of these Postings with pictures since at least June that I know of. Must be an outbreak! Never seen one like this myself.

Yep, the Forum gets these pretty frequently (at least in the last three months since I joined). Never knew or seen a Cardinal that looked like these until many folks Posted their pictures. The condition has been blamed on a parasite.

I shot video of that bird perched and singing (Long Island NY). If anyone wants a look let me know - ill email you the file. Except for the crazy head he seemed quite healthy.
