Excellent series of pictures.
I usually don't participate in the discussions between Coopers and Sharp-shinned. But in this case due to your great pictures, I'd say that is a Juvenile Cooper's Hawk.

I saw what I thought was a Cooper's Hawk in my backyard (which abuts the Santa Teresa foothills in San Jose, CA). However, the bird had a row of yellow feathers at the tip of its tail. I could not find any description of a Cooper's Hawk that included that detail. I checked other hawks, and couldn't find another hawk with those feathers. Any help ...
