This funny little heron was furious because its mother had just flown away. I get such a laugh from this picture, because of the wild hairdo and crazy expression. And I love the downy softness on its body.

There are three anhinga nests very close together with at least eight anhinga chicks around, probably more. The parents seem to know which chicks are theirs. But all of the chicks try to get fed from any adult. Photographed near Orlando, Florida.

According to the sanctuary manager, this is a male. It’s mate is banded. These are the only adult spoonies in the area. Photographed near Orlando, Florida.
