It is the only time I have ever seen one of these at the beach. I usually find them in the mangroves.

They look very young. They probably haven't been fledged for long.

The chick is as big as the adult. Looks like it could feed itself by now.

This funny little heron was furious because its mother had just flown away. I get such a laugh from this picture, because of the wild hairdo and crazy expression. And I love the downy softness on its body.
