The Great Blue and its white morph that used to be called a Great White Heron are the largest of our herons.
Is the picture playing tricks on me, or is that a fine white line visible down the neck of one of the birds? Makes me think of the Tricolor or Louisiana Heron. Was the bird a fairly solid color of blue?

That is an adult Tricolored Heron formerly known as a Louisiana Heron. Well known in the South.
