This is the same female, red-breasted merganser from my other photo... but with the wind doing a number on her crest.

Here's a picture of a female, Red-Breasted Merganser. She's facing the wind in this one, so her crest 'hair' is OK.

This is just a seagull I saw at Barnegat Light. I could use some help IDing it, as I don't really know a whole lot about seagulls and my books are still MIA!   Update: I've changed this from an unidentified gull to a Herring Gull. Thanks TheGrine!
