I think this is an immature rose-breasted grosbeak.. It and another just like it came behind the male, but there was also another who I didn't get a good picture of that had more striking markings on it's face, more like a mask. I think that might have been the adult female.

I have had just one rose-breasted grosbeak come to the feeder I put out a few weeks ago.. actually I haven't seen him IN the feeder, just in the tree next to it. But his plumage is very ragged looking, as if he'd been mouthed over by a large cat or something. I was hoping he was a baby, but according to the image search I did for immature rose ...

Ok, now that another male RBG has come to my feeder looking smartly dressed with a nice fresh pink looking beak, I've come to the conclusion (possibly erroneously) that this is a younger bird about to molt or just finished molting.. maybe a son, even..
