  • Bird ID Help, Rufous-crowned Sparrow?

I took this photo near Bodega Bay, California (north, coastal area).  I'm not sure what the bird is.  It seems to be some type of sparrow, and the Rufous-crowned seems close, but all the crest on this bird and the coloring seem a little too defined compared to what I've seen in photos... Can someone help clarify what type of bird ...

  • Rescued Bird -- Immature Female Song Sparrow?

(Photo taken: Woodinville, WA, outside of Seattle)This little bird was flapping wildly and getting nowhere today when I went out to refill my bird feeders. Inside now, away from the cats and hawks, and hopefully back to good health soon. Can't identify it, though. Suspect it might be a female immature song sparrow?

This looks like a Grasshopper Sparrow to me, except there isn't an eyering. I could use a little help with the ID.

  • Sparrow in White Mountains

On 7/4 I saw the bird in this photo at about 10,000 feet in the White Mountains of eastern California.  It's the range just east of the Sierra, so is pretty dry up there.  It was springtime up there, and this guy and his/her mate were pretty actively, well, mating.  It looks like the pictures I see of a Chipping Sparrow, but the ...

Hello, Thanks for the input and the cool web link, I will check it out. I shot the pic thru a window and I do not remember seeing a lot of yellow on the bird and if there was it was not very bright yellow.  But it sure looks like it in the pic, but as i said, its a dull yellow at best. Thanks again. Neil

  • Which Sparrow is this?

Hi, I'm a bird-watcher from India visiting the Portland OR area on work. I saw these birds in the nearby Ridgefield NWR. I thought they were the Golden-Crowned Sparrow but I'm very uncertain since they are supposed to be uncommon in this Refuge. Can someone help me ID these ...

  • Re: Please Help me ID this little bird

Thanks, Snowy Owl for the reply.  Looking at the illustration of House Sparrow, it could very well have been one...I really didn't ''examine'' him, but kept him sheltered in my hands close to my body so he wouldn't be too afraid or escape back into the jaws of the feline (FYI, I know cats are a big danger to birds and I do not let my cats ...
