The kids and I were going out through the garage. When I opened the door, this fellow flew in from the garage. I'm almost certain it's a Downy Woodpecker. Sorry about the blurry image - my husband wanted him OUT and wasn't giving me much time to snap shots.

This bad boy is a regular visitor - even without our recently chopped [:(] tree. We erected a substitute feeder-pole system and he loves it!

Here's another regular visitor. She and her boyfriend love the suet.
Now if could just keep the piggy Grackles and Starlings from hogging all the suet...any ideas?

This one I thought was a little smaller than the downy woodpecker I have seen around here . Coloring is very similar but with one major difference NO RED PATCH on the back of the head
