  • tropical looking bird

    I'm trying to identify a tropical looking bird that has been frequenting our backyard the past couple of weeks. We live in the Los Angeles area. It is about the size of a crow with bluish feathers, a yellow marking above its beak, which is orange, and red feathers under its wingtips when it flies.

    This is the first year I've seen what I think is an Indigo Bunting - see attached photo.  The beak color seems to change depending on where the sun is, and appears yellow in some of my photos, but is mostly black when viewed without a lense.  I think that all of the wild fires in Georgia and other areas are sending native birds out of ...

    I live in South Jersey and both my husband and I have seen this bird.  It is a beautiful shade of blue, looks very much like an indigo bunting, but with a bright yellow bill.  This is the first spring we have had bird feeders so I am unaware if it is usually in this area.  Frustration trying to find it in any bird ...
