  • S.Carolina Bird Call -- any guesses??

Hi there.  I have a kind of bird near my house (out in the country, near ponds and swamps, next to a forest, about 20 miles inland from the beach) that I hear but never can see.  I think they might be mating right now (Oct.), as they seem to be calling to each other quite often throughout the day.  I can't tell if they are ...

It also had a dark azure, almost aquamarine cap with an orange edge to it. The rest of the coloring was typical of a bare-throated tiger heron, and very distinctive, as ...

  • "Fancy" Black Pigeon? (pic added)

I need help identifying a large, unusual pigeon (I *think* it's a pigeon) I found in my driveway today (in Memphis, TN). He walks right up to people, so I'm assuming he's an escaped pet. He looks nothing like all our local pigeons and doves I've ever seen. One of his wings droops, so I'm also assuming he's injured. He is ...
