    Merlin?

    Hi friends, I was at Kenneth Hahn State Park on 3-5-18 when I saw this striking bird. After studying my field guide I was pretty sure that it's a female Merlin. My wife also suggested that it may be the Prairie subspecies. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hawk and Duck and Hummer

    Hi friends, It has been awhile since I've posted anything or been out birding, so I'm thankful I finally have some photos to share. I saw all of these birds at Madrona Marsh in Torrance, CA on 2-17-18. Any ID ideas? Thanks everyone!

  4. Thank you IvoryBillHope & darknight! Much appreciated! I was confused by # 11 as I saw two other birds I thought were Phainopepla's and they looked a bit different, especially the eyes. Here is a better photo of # 11, the same bird I saw. (It was also my best pic of the day for today) Here are photos of the two birds I thought were Phainopeplas. One is the black, the other is gray.
  5. Hi Friends, I've been absent for awhile and until recently hadn't been well enough to get myself out to go birding. I went camping with a group of friends to Joshua Tree National Park over Veterans Day Weekend and enjoyed seeing lots of beautiful birds. Here is a list of the ones I wasn't sure of.
