  1. Thank you! You all are so helpful here!
  2. A quick small gray with white bird with a distinct yellow throat. So quick that I was only able to get this one picture showing white stripe from behind. I hope that's enough to identify it.http://s173.photobucket.com/user/mjohnson47/media/Birds/IMG_8028.jpg.html?sort=3&o=4
  3. Northern Harrier?? Reardan, Wa

Thank you. The field guide threw me a little when it said it had a V-shaped wing and I wasn't seeing that. I appreciate the help!

The flash of white on its rump makes me think it might be a Northern Harrier, but I wasn't sure if the wing shape fit the description in the guide I used. I would appreciate any help.
  5. Thank you for the help!
  6. My 7 year old son is very interested in birds, and I am hoping someone can help with this new bird we both saw. To us novices it appears to be a loggerhead Shrike and I wondering what the pros here think? I would estimate it was slightly smaller than a robin. It had a distinctive black 'mask' and in flight we could see flashes of white. It was in a tall tree surrounded by farm land. I was able to get a picture, but the quality isn't very good. You can see the shape and general colors. http://rs173.pbsrc.com/albums/w68/mjohnson47/Birds/IMG_7892.jpg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip
  7. Thank you. I'm a newbie to birding and appreciate the help!
