  1. I am looking at the Black Kite on Google Images and their tail appears to me to be more of a concave V-shape; what do you guys think of the tail of the bird in the first photo? I'm not seeing anything come up with the two end feathers sticking out.
  2. Alright guys and galls I've got a wild one for you this time. My brother recently got back from India and I asked him to take as many pictures of birds as possible for me and I picked this one out of a whole mess of birds and I haven't been able to identify it yet so I hope you all could provide some insight. Thanks as always. I am putting the full picture on here as well if any of you want to try to pick out any of the other silhouettes!
  3. Thank you very much for your insight! One question for you, what do you mean by "the strong barring on the secondaries" I don't know the term but I would love to know what you mean.
  4. I took this on the same day as my last hawk post (just a few days ago) and it is a different hawk. It's really no where near the best picture but I thought I would throw it up here just to see what you all have to say. Thanks.
  5. I took these photos a few days ago in Connecticut. The white above the eyes and on the wings are leading me towards a Juvenile Cooper's Hawk but I'm just not sure -- the pure white tail is really throwing me. Thanks to all for your help.
  6. Sorry I usually specify, I took this in Connecticut. From now on I will be sure to leave an approximate location! : ) Thank you for your reply!
  7. This is an old picture I found that I took years ago when I visited Liberty Island off of New York. Notice the white on the face of the more brown duck, I know that females of both species have that but any insight that you all could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  8. Thank you all for your replies and interesting insight! Now I will be on the look out for the Common Raven to add to my species list!
  9. I'm leaving more towards Raven as of now, they looked fairly large but I didn't get to hear the call so I'm not positive. Always appreciate the input folks.
  10. I took this photo on near an old ferry-landing on the Connecticut River the other day. When I took the photos I was almost convinced this was a Turkey Vulture but taking a look on a bigger screen the head appears to me to have feathers. Also in the last photo I believe I see some white under the wings which also lead me to think it is a J. Bald Eagle. Let me know what you guys and galls think! Thanks
  11. I saw this bird in the botanical garden in Atlanta, Georgia on vacation back in February. I haven't been able to find any other species of bird with a smooth brown head, white body, and grayish wings. In my field guide the Nuthatches tails look a lot shorter and stockier which is causing me some doubt along with their wings look much more blue in the book. I was thinking that may just be the lighting but I would like some input of some fellow bird watchers to try and get some piece of mind on this bird. Thanks for all who share their opinions, looking forward to hearing what you all have to say.
