  1. Frida Kahlo’s “Eagle”

    Unfortunately that’s the only photo I’ve been able to find. I hadn’t thought that the bird might possibly be domestic bred or a hybrid — does indeed make the search more difficult! I do know that Frida loved all things Mexican, and so it’s reasonable to think she may have wanted a familiar native raptor, something “of the country.” But that idea may be completely wrong too!
  2. Hi everyone! I’m hoping you might help me with some bird detective work. I’m trying to figure out what species of raptor Frida Kahlo has in the photo below. I haven’t been able to find any information online about the bird except that it’s an “eagle” (seems more like a hawk?) and her name was Gertrudis Caca Blanca (amazing). I’m assuming it’s a species native to Mexico. Any help/ideas/direction you can give me would be much appreciated! Thanks!
