Thanks, Wayne!! Yes, in Texas My understanding is that they have eruptive years, where the food sources are plentiful up north, so they have lots of babies, then there isn't enough territory for all of them, so some end up moving much farther south than usual, for Winter. It was a very exciting bird to see!!

Your Owl Photos! Let's see them!

Just returned from a wonderful week of birding and adventure! I love an adventure!! I found 11 new birds, and though I haven't even started going through my pictures, I think this lifer (Snowy Owl), and this picture, are going to be my favorites, when all is said and done What a treat to see this gorgeous creature, so far out of it's normal range, in Odessa, Texas. Hey, Familiar Thanks! The Barred Owl shot was taken with a Canon 5DIII and a Tamron 150-600 G2. I absolutely understand your frustrations...been there, done that :-/

Y'all got beautiful shots...lots better shots than I, but I did get a shot yesterday, while out looking for migrants and Winter birds. Unfortunately, my camera was set to shoot birds in flight, up where it's bright, but the bobcat surprised me, down in the dark ravine and I only had a couple of seconds :-/ It was carrying a field mouse / vole. More butterflies, than birds, these days I got lots of pics today, but these are the most interesting. This one is from last night. Wolf Spider, carrying lots of babies on her back.
