    which tern

Looks like an Elegant Tern to me but I might be completely wrong.
  2. Melierax

    Audio only

Kinda sounds like a Pine Siskin. EDIT: That actually sounds like it might be a flycatcher in which case I can't help you.

    Whatbird's Young Birders!

Hey Welcome back!! (I'm in DC and I couldn't get away from SOSPs even here.... )

    Did I reach 1,000?

Well here are the comments I got: "Oof that’s tough. Thinking Nazca. Bill color I think looks better for Nazca than Masked in my opinion, but could be totally wrong." And "Definitely a Nazca" And Nazca is rare apparently: "like Nazca is fairly rare anywhere in Mexico... especially in Baja"

    Did I reach 1,000?

I sent the photo to a couple knowledgeable people and they were confident it was a Nazca...

    What hawk?

Ferruginous! Incredible picture of an incredible bird! EDIT: To add field marks... Look at the rufous colored leggings and strong yellow mandible, as well as the grayish lighter head.
  7. This is a House Sparrow. I think your bird guide must be older because "Common" Sparrows don't exist in the states, I'm not sure if they do anywhere else. EDIT: this is the female, which is why it's duller than the male you're seeing in the box. In addition, Eurasian Tree Sparrows only have small populations in St. Louis within the States. I'm not even sure if that's countable. Also Welcome to Whatbird!

    Hairy Woodpecker?

    Yes, a Downy.
  9. Melierax

    Mountain Bluebird or other?

Looks like a female Brown-headed Cowbird.

    Whatbird's Young Birders!

By the way, I forgot to say what I'm doing for two weeks -- I'm with my family in DC, Philly, and NY! I'm in DC now. I've already gotten 3 lifers: CACH, REVI and BBWA. Possibly FICR and BRTH. I haven't even birded yet!

Really? I thought it was just me. I'll have to re-upload.

    My camera broke!

Oh no!! That's a bummer I don't use a DSLR but I'm sure lenses come loose pretty regularly and can be repaired by forking over a ton of money.

    Cassin's or Western Kingbird

Those white outer tail feathers say Western Kingbird on 1, 2, and 3. 4 looks like it might be a Cassin's, but I'm not sure on either 4 or 5.
