Okay. Thanks psweet and Short-eared Owl
  13. South TX: What flycatcher?

I was going to report these on eBird (for my yard list), when I noticed that Great Crested Flycatchers are rare in my county for the month of July. In fact there have been no reports of Great Crested Flycatchers in July in Nueces County! The amount of rufous on the tail, and the larger white bar on the tertials (?) does make me think that they are Great Crested... But, can I get a second opinion on the identity of these flycatchers? Here's one more photo with a slightly better view of under the tail (if that helps at all...). flycatcher by Andrew Lyall, on Flickr

  15. Hello. Today two (juvenile?) flycatchers briefly visited my yard (Corpus Christi, TX). I've narrowed it down to Great Crested, Ash-throated, or Brown-crested Thank you. flycatchers by Andrew Lyall, on Flickr flycatcher by Andrew Lyall, on Flickr
