I have now decided to get a superzoom camera. I would like to use it for IDing distant birds, as well as quality shots of more common birds at a closer range. Any recommendations at a reasonable price? I looked at the Canon Powershot SX 50HS. I know there are Nikon and Panasonic options too. Thanks!
I have a Nikon D3200 and a 200mm VR lens. I like the lens, but I need MUCH more zoom for birds. I have looked into a 300mm lens, but I'm not sure if that's enough, and it's a bit pricey. What would be the best (and not too expensive) way to extend my zoom, without compromising much photo quality? Would a high quality 2x teleconverter do the trick? If so, I need one that will still allow me to do Auto focus. Thanks for the help.
I'm not sure you guys will be able to help me, but I took my camera out today and it was fine one minute, the next the 300mm zoom lens on it won't operate. I looked more carefully later, and the zoom lens won't turn at all unless A LOT of force is used, and when it does turn, it turns past the 75mm and 300mm range. Where one part of the zoom lens attaches to the part where you use your hand to adjust the zoom, a portion of the cylinder-shaped looks pushed UP. Does anyone know if this is fixable? P.S.- I am still able to take pictures, just without the ability to zoom. Here is what the zoom should look like. Here is what one side looks like (pushed up.)
