  1. Hi there! I caught a few pictures of this bird just as it was flying off in Colorado Springs, CO yesterday (Dec 29). My best guess is a Canada Goose x Snow Goose, but I'm really not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated! www.flickr.com/photos/137714130@N08/albums/72157690874907364
  2. All within the past couple days in Southeast Michigan: 1. This goose was about the size of the Canada Geese. I assume it is a hybrid between a Canada Goose and something. What is it? 2. Fairly confident in these. Let me know if I'm wrong or missed anything. Canvasbacks, Redheads, Buffleheads on the right, and Hooded Mergansers in the back: 3. These were the best shots I could get.
  3. ...in Yellowstone National Park a couple days ago. I was assuming the goose was a Canada since that is what I had been seeing. But is it a Cackling?
  4. Duck Pond 'Goose?'

This lovely friend of ours (two of them) showed up in Western Virginia at a duck pond. There were plenty of mallards and Canada geese around. These two were very large and quiet... mysterious. No ID book, app, or google search could solve this! Ideas? Thanks!! Pic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bt9z14psjehsdzf/IMG_4753.JPG?dl=0
  5. Hi all, Was looking at some Canada Geese in Burlington, VT on 2/27, and noticed this smaller one. Wondering if it's a Cackling Goose or just a small Canada Goose. I'm guessing it's a small Canada Goose, since it doesn't seem to be quite as small as a Mallard and the bill isn't overly stubby or different. Thoughts? http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S34841136 Thank you, Graham
  6. It's been colder, cloudy, and super windy here in STL all day... but I did manage to get out a little bit and see a few Canada geese at a nearby pond! Enjoy!!!
  7. Cackling Goose?

Taken 12/9 in NW Arkansas. I think that I have a Cackling goose but would appreciate confirmation before I post it. Thanks. http://
  8. Do you Even Cackle?

I saw this little goose at the farm. I think that it may be a Richardson's Cackling Goose. In the third pic, the Canada Goose is about 9 inches behind the presumed cackler. This goose was noticeably smaller than all the other geese.
  9. What water fowl?

What in the world is this? The closest that I could find was an Egyptian goose? This was on a golf course with ponds in Carefree Az. The male and female are similarly colored so I don't think this is some domestic duck hybrid. They were off to the side by them selves. Been driving myself crazy Thanks so much to all Kerry
  10. Great White Fronted Geese?

There have been reports of vagrant Great White-Fronted Geese hanging out with flocks of Canada Geese in Orange County, NY. Spotted these two geese with a flock of Canadas. I'm hoping they are and not Graylags. But hey, I got some good photos of them so I shouldn't complain. DSC_0393 by degibox, on Flickr DSC_0399 by degibox, on Flickr DSC_0361 by degibox, on Flickr
  11. Initially IDed as molting Greater White-fronted Goose, photo from Clarksville TN 8-31-15, in a flock of Canada Geese. Is this a possible hybrid? Investigating Canada X GWFG or Greylag, or Tule, any feedback appreciated
  12. Hi, Forum! Not 100% sure about these birds spotted over the weekend in Amsterdam. 1. Confirm Great tit? Photo_1 by degibox, on Flickr 2. Also great tit? Photo2 by degibox, on Flickr 3. Confirm European Robin? Photo3 by degibox, on Flickr 4. Confirm juvenile coot? Juvenile moorehen? Or something else entirely? Photo4 by degibox, on Flickr 5. Can't really guess. Saw for a second. Photo5 by degibox, on Flickr 6. What goose? Photo6 by degibox, on Flickr HELLO FROM EUROPE! YOU GUYS ROCK! -Peter P.S. Anyone know of a good European bird ID website? I can't seem to find ANY!
  13. This is probably easy, but I can't figure out which of these geese was male and which is female. Here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b61KCoyzIUk and I'm thinking the one that was closest to me was the male, but not sure.
  14. Domestic Goose

Found this white goose (right bird) yesterday at a local pond containing a few domestic geese and a couple Black Swans. I'm trying to see as many species as I can in June for a local competition and any free flying bird counts so I'm hoping this is something other than a Graylag Goose. Thanks!
  15. SO I made a friend today at the park. Have never seen him before. A big guy about a foot and a half to two feet in height and just as much in length. Huge in comparison to the other birds around him. Was real friendly and wasn't afraid to check me out as much as I was looking him over. Problem is, I have no idea what kind of duck he is. He's much larger than any I've ever seen before and his patterns are nothing like any of the ones I've looked up. What do you guys think?
  16. Goose?

At the Zoo of Acadiana, now called Zoosiana, south of Lafayette, Louisiana in February. We saw this goose in the aviary. I see it as a Pink-footed Goose. It's range seems to be far east and over near Greenland! Any confirmations?
  17. Around 4:30 P.M. today in Palmetto, GA (specifically known as Serenbe), I observed a strange looking duck within a large group of Canada Geese (36) in a pasture by a pond. At first it looked like a hybridized goose of some sort, but after returning with my camera, it looks like a duck.1st pic is the bird, while the second pic is the bird in its surroundings. Thanks! 1. http://www.flickr.com/photos/94730536@N07/9212862494/ 2. http://www.flickr.com/photos/94730536@N07/9212851274/
  18. Around 4:30 P.M. today in Palmetto, GA (specifically known as Serenbe), I observed a strange looking duck within a large group of Canada Geese (36) in a pasture by a pond. At first it looked like a hybridized goose of some sort, but after returning with my camera, it looks like a duck. The first picture attached is a closeup of the face.(Note the brownish colored iris) The second link is the full size image, I think the link works but it may not. https://twitter.com/sammurray27/status/352893509923127298/photo/1 https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui=2&ik=14806b3602&view=att&th=13fab99373953d8f&attid=0.1&disp=emb&realattid=ii_13fab98d7c1bb1ae&zw&atsh=1
  19. ...a Snow Goose? Saw this bird with a large flock of Canada Geese late yesterday evening. It caught my eye immediately because it did not look like the other white ducks/geese that I have seen there at other times. The 40/50 birds were milling about & causing traffic problems near a pond in a strip mall parking lot in Beaufort SC which is why I am doubting the ID. A strip mall parking lot pond? It would be unusual sighting at any time in my area according to eBird but it would be considered rare right now. My research came up with the domestic version being much larger & not having the black wing tips that are on this bird but maybe I am missing something else important that points to this being a domestic goose?
  20. Weird Goose in MA

Can someone please help me figure out what type of goose or other bird this is? I came across is on Cape Cod, MA and it doesn't look like anything I've ever seen. It's definitely some sort of a water bird, larger than a duck, no other similar birds in vicinity. Thanks.
  21. Simply put, why does this goose have a white ring around the base of its bill? age? diet? random? Taken in central OR, 6 February 2013
  22. swangoose or greylag

I think these are swangeese. Are they domestic?
  23. Waterfowl help x2

First photo is of geese in a pond outside Junction City, Oregon on November 25th, 2012, and second is a heron north of the University of Oregon on December 7th, 2012. I know nothing of birds; please and thank you for any information on them (I like to add notes to my photos)
  24. So I'm on the Guadalupe River in the grand city of New Braunfels, Texas and I see this (goose?) With pink feet and a pink bill that has a black tip and maybe some red lipstick? it has a white breast, white wing tip with a touch of irredecent real too. But the kicker are these bright yellow eyes surrounded in a rufous eye ring. I'm so lost searching through all my North American books but I'm at a loss. help?
  25. I was up in Stratford, Ontario a coupkle of days ago, and I ran into this strange looking bird among the geese, swans and ducks. Is it a goose-swan? We have no clue! It's feet were just like a swans (big, orange and webbed) and it really did look like some sort of crested swan (do those exist?), but it's tail feathers were just like a goose, a brownish-gray colour. What the heck am I dealing with?
