  1. Hey everyone. I'm new here and new to birding as well. Got some pictures recently in the backyard and just wanted to make sure I've identified all these birds correctly. Apologies for some of the pics not being so great. Thanks! 1. Carolina Wren 2. Orange Crowned Warbler 3. Black-crested Titmouse 4. Titmouse and Warbler 5. Ruby-crowned Kinglet 6. Mine and my Corgi's arch enemy the Fox Squirrel 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
  2. Perhaps a kinglet?

Seen in Maine (Acadia NP). Seen near a blackburnian and black-throated green. IMG_2330 by Selimah.harmon, on Flickr This has me stumped. I thought perhaps Golden-crowned kinglet - but the chin is dark grey and isn't the chin of the GCKI white or at least paler than the chest and belly? Also the call didn't seem to fit for GCKI - but I am still in the beginning stages of learning calls so that doesn't mean it isnt one.
  3. NYC. When I first saw and recorded this uber-active bird in October 2016, I thought because of the size and shape that it's a female Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Note the 4th photo. But as I'm editing it and enhancing the color (only the 4th photo), I've noticed the eye-ring, which looks yellow. Now I'm thinking Pine or similar Warbler. Replies much appreciated.
  4. ruby-crowned kinglet?

Hi, I saw this bird in Newfoundland in August. Is it a ruby-crowned kinglet? if yes why are its underparts so black and white?
  5. Ruby-crowned kinglet?

seen in August in Newfoundland. Ruby-crowned Kinglet you think?
  6. Earlier this evening (around 5pm), I spotted this little guy near the entrance to my building. About half the size of a sparrow. Didn't move (despite my walking by it and kneeling down to take a photo) until the camera flash went off, then it looked around, chirped and hoped into the bushes. Spent some time researching possible species, and I believe it's a Kinglet (though maybe not an adult?) however it's markings don't quite match any photos I've found online. Never have seen anything quite like it in this area (outer borough of NYC). Not entirely sure what happened to it afterward, as I was on my way to work and when I returned a number of hours later, I didn't spot it (but I'll keep an eye out come daylight tomorrow).
  7. I find kinglets and flycatchers confusing. Can you tell me which this is and why? Both pics are the same bird. Southern Manitoba, Taken in May
  8. Hello, Went birding yesterday in Stewart State Forest, Rock Tavern, Orange County, New York. Several birds we spotted moved quickly and were hard to get a good look at. I was able to snap these photos of some of the more elusive birds. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks! Oh, and if you're able to identify gender, that's also awesome. -Peter 1. I'm convinced this tiny bird was a Golden-crowned Kinglet. It was teeny-tiny and wouldn't sit still for a second! This is the only decent photo I was able to get. You can't see the crown (I never saw it as it stayed high in the treetops), but after consulting field guide apps, Wikipedia, and All About Birds, the behavior and head/eye pattens are a match. Could anyone confirm? ConfirmGoldenCrownedKinglet by degibox, on Flickr 2. I want to say this a Palm Warbler in fall plumage? ConfirmPalmWarbler by degibox, on Flickr 3. Any guesses as to what this might be? Is it perhaps also a Palm Warbler? I know the pic is crude, but any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Forum! AnyGuesses by degibox, on Flickr

  10. Hi, I saw those ones 2 days ago in Toronto. Are they Female ruby-crowned Kinglets?
  11. can someone help me with this one? I have had ruby crowned kinglets around before, but I can't be positive that I have had gold crowned kinglets here. There is a pair of these here, this winter (they usually show up around January and hang out until the weather starts to warm up and they must head North. I'm attaching a couple of shots of this one's visit to my deck suet cage, a few minutes ago. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  12. My first impression is that this is a golden-crowned kinglet, but the black and white breast is different from the usual olive in the pictures, and the distinctive yellow epaulettes don't seem to quite match. Please help.
  13. Warblers ?

Hi, 2 pictures from today in northwest Indiana. 1. 2. Thanks! : )
