  1. Hey everyone. I'm new here and new to birding as well. Got some pictures recently in the backyard and just wanted to make sure I've identified all these birds correctly. Apologies for some of the pics not being so great. Thanks! 1. Carolina Wren 2. Orange Crowned Warbler 3. Black-crested Titmouse 4. Titmouse and Warbler 5. Ruby-crowned Kinglet 6. Mine and my Corgi's arch enemy the Fox Squirrel 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
  2. I captured this picture in the Antelope Valley in Southern California. Is this a Cactus Wren or LeConte's Thrasher? _MG_5852-Edit by Terry Dickerson, on Flickr
  3. All photos/video taken in the last few days around Dearborn, MI. Please correct or confirm these IDs. 1. House Wren? 2. Willow Flycatcher 3. Great-crested Flycatcher?
  4. A couple wrens

Today near Victoria, BC. The first two were from a higher elevation. The third was near a tiny stream with lots of conifer cover. 1. 2. House? 3. (all the same bird) Bewick?
  5. Initially thought Scaly-breasted Wren (old Southern Nightingale-wren) based on bad pic in Ridgely/Gwynne Birds of Panama 2nd ed., but habitat is wrong. This was in essentially a wooded residential area between Panama City & the Canal in 2009. Thinking now Ochraceous, but face/eye stripe seems off.
  6. I'd appreciate some ID for this small wren which I found in a swampy area at the edge of a saline playa in desert some miles W of Puerto PeƱasco ('La Salina' RAMSAR site). All photos are of the same individual. My guess was Marsh Wren because of habitat, but I'm not familiar with the small wrens. https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidbygott/32911767460/in/album-72157678806402362/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidbygott/33139309452/in/album-72157678806402362/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/davidbygott/32911767180/in/album-72157678806402362/
  7. Taken today in northern Virginia hopping around on the ground and on some logs in the woods. Thanks for any help.
  8. birdbath video :)

OK Bird Lovers.. I have a challenge!... I took my old camcorder and set it out front for a few hours at lunch today.. and when i was digging around in the menu saw that it had a 1080p 60fps setting, and youtube will even accept those, so this one is of decent quality In this video you'll see "Roger Robin" zip in and out of the scene, a couple house wrens, a grackle, and a 'larger' black bird that is not a black bird, female grackle, or starling.. so what is it? I thought it was a blackbird but looked at wiki and see i was wrong ;/
  9. Chickadee? and What?

I am new to bird id. I thought, according to Sibley's, black capped Chickadees had white on their faces. As you can see, I hope, these do not. I do have 2 that do. Then there is the slightly larger brown one one has the barest hint of dull rust on his head. The third is thinner than the others, brown and tan, with strikingly yellow triangle small beak. (These are both on the suet, the larger on the right.) Oh please help. These are the best pics I can get. Any help would be appreciated. (and any hints on using my Sibley's Guide of Western NA would be so appreciate too!)
  10. IMGP9391 by liz feltham, on Flickr Of the many many small birds that hang out in the yard, this was the first I'd seen of this one. Watched yesterday as she (?) did this burrowing action in the ground cover (searching for dinner?). Thinking wren of some sort, but I'm terrible with the tiny birds. Thank you!
  11. House wren?

Seen in the bushes/ trees in Cleveland near today by a small lake.
  12. These were all taken today, in central Kansas. 1. Confirmed Black-Billed Cuckoo? This was taken at the edge of a forest, where after I had taken this picture, it had flew into. I noticed the bill seems awfully dark, and the primaries of the wing were not reddish in colour, nor were the tail feathers. 2. Confirmed Carolina Wren? It didn't let me get very great pictures... But hopefully they are good enough to tell, if more are needed, I do have some others, but they are quite blurred. These were taken inside of a forest, right next to a small stream. Back-view. Side view, showing the barred wings. 3. This one I'm truly puzzled on, I understand if this one is un-attemptable but I thought I'd give them a try. It was foggy and still somewhat dark out at the time, the sun had just barely risen. At first I thought these were House Finches, but I noticed the beak wasn't as cone-like... Western Tanagers, possibly? This is a photo I edited, I lightened it and greatly enhanced the colour. These were taken next to a treeline, over a grass prairie and near a forest. This is an unedited photo.
  13. My first wren y'all! at least i"m pretty sure it's a wren lol. I'm guessing carolina wren?
  14. Marsh Wren ?

I'd say 110% yes. Confirm? Apologies for the poor quality of image. Seen in southeastern PA. Thank you!
  15. Wren ? May, Toronto

Hi, I saw this one in Toronto in May. Is that a Wren? If yes, what kind? thx
  16. I saw this in my backyard this afternoon in Surrey, British Columbia. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
  17. Which Sparrow?

This Bird was found hopping among a bunch of sticks in the reeds at the wetland's bank. This was taken in Central Kansas. It hopped quickly and hid in some lower piles of sticks and weeds at my presence. It was darkly and boldly streaked on both flanks and breast, it's belly the only place without streaks. Its brown cap faded at the end of its nape, and had a grey line through the middle of the brown cap. Its beak appeared to be bi-coloured, it looks like there is a greyish patch on the upper-beak. I was thinking it was likely a type of Sparrow, but I can't seem to figure out which kind, I thought maybe a Lincoln's, Swamp or Song Sparrow, though it could be another kind. It was a cloudy day, about 8:00 in the morning, and very foggy at the time. The fog unfortunately made the pictures a bit blurred.
  18. Wren

My wintering backyard birds have switched from winter calls to spring songs...for a few weeks before they disappear up North for the summer. I'm pretty sure this is a House Wren, but it caught me off guard since I've only heard the scold and chatter calls for a few months. song.mp3 St. Petersburg, FL March 2015 (Not the Red-winged Blackbird in the foreground.) Thanks.
  19. A few confirmations

    I missed posting on this forum #1 #2 #3

  21. Rock wren?

Saw this one yesterday in the Sandia Mts foothills near Albuquerque, NM... flying in and around the steep, rocky slopes near Embudo canyon... I'm thinking rock wren, but I'd like to know what you all think b/c it's a little more brown than I was expecting. Thanks!
  22. Carolina Wren?

I've never seen a wren in person before - is this one and, if so, is it a Carolina? Thank you for your input!
  23. Hello Birders, I saw this little fellow at Will Rogers State Historic Park. He was hopping up and down on a tree stump. Can you tell me what kind of wren he is? Many thanks. <iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/37834207@N06/13065323423/player/d4bd09a0bf" height="500" width="500" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>
  24. Carolina Wren?

Sorry for the blurry photo, but I'm thinking a Carolina Wren? Thanks for your help. IMG_8755 - Version 2 by ldopkiss, on Flickr
