Recently, I put up a mealworm feeder for the birds that have come to my backyard, but it appears that the ants have found it first <_< , it is on a pole feeder hook. Any ideas?

Maybe an Ant Moat? They sell them for Hummingbird feeders, but should work fine on any hooked feeder.

I just tried peppermint oil, seemed to work 75%

I found a solution, it's this bird-friendly scent that ants hate, and so far I haven't seen a single ant

What was the solution?

diatomaceous earth

I'd be afraid of using DE.  I've read (only read) that it can be bad for birds' (and our own) respiratory systems.

Ant mote if they're coming from the top, cinnamon gel (can get it from bird stores, even Amazon and Lowe's).  Ants hate cinnamon and cinnamon oil, so if you put it on a pole where a feeder is put it UNDER the baffle way up inside so birds and squirrels won't get it on them.  You can put it at the very bottom/base of the pole, just be careful.  It's supposed to be non-toxic, but cinnamon isn't good for the birds or other animals, and it has properties that will burn if on skin. PS... don't use cinnamon powder.  That's a whole other talk show.
