You keep track of your "highway rarities" birds seen from highways that aren't something like a pigeon. Right now two of my best are Indigo Bunting And Scarlet Tanager.

I would if I could, if eBird had a way to keep track of things like that. <_<

Bring a notebook and pencil and look for birds the whole time--yes.

Write it down if it's in my county, and I've seen in the last few weeks, and it's very common--no. (But I used to!)

Submit it if it's at all new for the county, month, or interesting--yes.

So almost. ;)

I actually saw my first Turquoise-Browed Motmot from the windows of the bus on the highway (although I should perhaps clarify that the concept of "highway" is a little different here; it was a two-lane intercity road).

How about making a complex system of recording birds per County on road trips?

Yes, that's exactly what I do. On one of the days I was driving back home from my Colorado trip in June, I made 24 lists all in one day

You might be a birder if . . .

in the middle of a movie you announce the species name of the bird you hear calling in the background.

You know you are a birder if....

you have dreamt of seeing a Wilson's warbler and then next morning you go birding (with parents who are birders) and see a WIWA......:)   Yes, I have done this.....

That's what they're like here in Idaho as well... although you're not going to see a Motmot anywhere on them

OK; you have me totally confused. My post was from another thread - how (and why) did you quote it here? LOL

Oh, for heaven's sake! I thought I posted that in the "lifers when not birding" thread. I guess it's bedtime (or I'm too old to keep up with you youngsters LOL!)
