We found them on a rip about 6 miles south of Grand Isle,  Louisiana along with juvenile dolphinfish,  Gulf buttetfish,  a few flying fish,  but not much else.

This cool little guy is a skilletfish. It has fins that are modified into a suction cup.

Rock hind from a quick offshore trip last weekend. Saw tons of black terns and even a few yellow warblers over the Gulf 30 to 70 miles southeast of Bay St Louis Mississippi.

Caught some finetooth sharks in a gillnet near grand isle today.

Finetooth sharks are viviparous meaning then embryos develop inside the female shark with nutrition from a yolk sac. The pups are born fully developed.

Things are about to get messy. 

This shark didn't survive her time in the net so we dissected her. You can see the huge liver streches the entire body cavity.
