I did see it!  Thanks for the info. Took about 3 hours of walking in the rain for it to finally show it self, but it was totally worth it.

I will be surprised if it stays after today, but it is an immature bird, so all bets are off.

You're probably right, but my mom is coming to town next weekend and I would love to show it to her. Pretty interesting area saw a nice Pintail and some snipe in the pond across the road.

It is, if you go down atkinson and turn left onto creel (or creek by gps) and go toward the bayou, you might see a peregrine or osprey or both in a dead tree behind the grove of oaks.  Hooded mergansers were also in the bayou, too.  Creel/Creek is a one way loop road and will bring you back to atkinson.  In spring the reeds on the bayou are loaded with sparrows.

What day are you thinking of bringing her over? I don't know how big a birder she is but they will have the big lagoons open next Saturday.  That is a trip I am going on.

We will probably bird Friday,  Saturday and a little on Sunday. Is it open to the public? Or part of some audubon society field trip? I'm sure she would love it.

No definitely didn't find it, but I did get good directions to it from @misspt. Definitely the best bird I've seen in a while.
