FALL SPARROWS

Recommended Posts

I encountered my first big sparrow flock of the fall.  It was mixed but most seemed to me to be Savannahs.  I have trouble separating Savannah and Song, when the Savannah lacks obvious yellow on the eye brow.  This was late October in SW Missouri on the prairie.

I have broken my ID of about 20 birds into four groups for easier access.  I think all of these are Savannahs.  I would appreciate feedback if any are not Savannahs.  Thanks

Groups 1: All Savannahs

Group 2: All Savannahs

Group 3: All Savannahs except IMG_1302, which is a swamp

Group 4: All Savannahs except IMG_1418, IMG_1444 and IMG_1534 which are songs.

They all look to me like Savannah's with exception of numbers 3,4 and 6 in the last group, which are songs. The side bars of the face are much more contrasting and silvery than the savannah

I agree with this.
