Recommended Posts

These are the last 4 of those I took Agujitas (Corcovado) Costa Rica on 6-7 Jan-2018. All were taken at Gringo Curt's N8.689669, W83.663870  at approx 2-3pm. Thanks VERY much in advance for your help identifying them!

Yellow crowned (my best guess)? Spot crowned? Thick billed? I have two more photos, but this one has the best view of the crown. Neither of my Costa Rica books (von Perlo and Ridgely/Gwynne) seems to show enough of a difference for me to tell, but the habitat points to the yellow-crowned.

Will double check when I get home and can check my field guide and open the photo link (blocked at work), but Yellow-crowned and Spot-crowned both have blue throats.  This one has a yellow throat.  I think by range it would be Thick-billed since Yellow-throated is out of range.  But again, let me double-check once I can properly take a look.

Thank you!!!!  Can you tell me which guide you're using?

I have Birds of Costa Rica by Garrigues and Dean. Mine is the first edition, but the second edition is out now.
