Grey Bird with Black Face in Central Arizona

Recommended Posts

My trail cam picked up a few photos of this bird, and it occurred to me that I have no idea what it is. It doesn't appear in the list of birds I found for Arizona on this website. I'll attach a photo which includes the date and time it was taken as well as the precise location, but to help search engines, the birds were spotted in a dingle in Cottonwood Arizona on and around Feb. 8, 2018.

Perhaps someone could help identify these birds?

Thanks, Damian

Oops!!!  I would blame it on spellcheck but I don't use it. Guess I'll have to blame it on old age!!! ;)

I guess I'll blame it on my (nonexistent) lack of experience with this species, but for some reason I always read it as Albert's. Better to learn now than out in the field in front of someone!

Nicolas Forestell you can be 100% positive it's an Abert's Towhee, believe me, I made the same mistake at first!

Thank you all,

I went back through the search to see what I may have done wrong the first time. I think perhaps I chose tan and buff instead of grey because I just didn't see the grey color as it was set apart from the "tan" and "buff" colors. Oops. Anyway,  It is definitely identified with the Primary Color of grey on this website though, not buff or tan...

Happy birding!
