thanks to all, you are terrific but unless it looks different in my computer than in yours,  #8 cannot be a  bonaparte's gull.

Why not? It looks like a small gull with white wingtips and a dark head.

Edit: Okay, sorry, I treated the two photos of #7 as two different numbers. You're right -- #8 is a Red-tailed Hawk.
