sparrows migrated out of the San Francisco bay area (CA, USA)?

Recommended Posts

Have the white-crowned and golden-crowned sparrows migrated out of the San Francisco bay area (CA, USA) for this season (May 2018)?  Any research done on how far north they go and the places they end up for the summer?   I used to see several dozens in the neighborhood a few weeks ago throughout the winter and I haven't seen a single one over the last two weeks.

Welcome to Whatbird!!

I had White-crowned here (Sacramento) in my yard through the winter also up until a couple of weeks ago. They Winter down here and migrate north for the breeding season. According to my Sibley's guide they go as far North as Canada and Alaska. Unless a stray or two is lingering around here they're gone for the Summer, and we probably won't see them again until next Winter. Such pretty birds! I love having them in my yard.
