I think that the couple were describing the bird as "yellow-breasted sparrows", but that they were actually Lesser Goldfinches, or something of the sort. That's the feeling I got from the post. Maybe I'm wrong.

Whisper... Thank you for your comment... Yes we know, about the Goldfinches/Sparrows.  When Matt and I go at each other... and/or make posts like this... Cryptic/coded messages are in order... between the lines is where you need to read.

Fraser
Oh, geez. I was having enough trouble reading the lines themselves what with my school-tired brain! I suppose that's the price we pay.

Not only did this guy do it, he started LAUGHING! Heard him say something about "hee-hee-hee". With all that cuteness I can't believe he had it in him!

You know that you maybe birding too much if you are actually trying to get moon shots.  So does this Yellow-headed have the best designed moon?

Good shot, Matt. That's the most colorful "moon" I've ever seen!!

I dunno, what about the Red-vented Bubul?  Any bird named for its "moon" must be worth considering, right?

You've definitely got a contender, though!

Another bird with a colorful butt is the Gray Catbird. I didn't know they had scarlet rumps until last year!

Great shots and captions, you guys. All of this talk of colored moons had me thinking about birds with different colored undertails, and White-Breasted Nuthatches came to mind. I haven't seen a live one, but it seems in pictures that they have colored moons, too.

Here you go Liam, here's your Gray Catbird moon! At least I got one good photo of his front side before he showed me what he really thought of me! :)
